The Hordes Arrive

How's it brues (South African for "what's up bros"). This week has been quite hectic. All of the Americans arrived into my neighborhood, and it was instantly overrun. This past Saturday at least 30 stopped by our house to say hi, and to ask if they could use our pool/ braai. It was a good time, meeting people and hanging out in the sun all day. On Sunday, six new people moved into our house, which I thought was pretty full already. They all turned out to be girls, which is not the end of the world, but our house instantly got a little crazier. Starting Monday this week we have had orientation activities and class sign up stuff. I am going to be taking a class called African Vertebrate Zoology, and a class called Medical Anthropology, which both look pretty interesting. On Tuesday of this week we had the international student welcome dinner, and we got a  drum lesson from an African drumming group. It was awesome to have about 600 kids all playing the same rhythm on the Jembays that they passed out. Today was the "Freshers' Braai," which we got to participate in even though we are not really "Freshers" (freshmen), which had live music and good food. All in all it has been a crazy week full of crowds of people, new friends, music, eating, and hanging out. This school seems pretty vibrant, I'm happy to be here.
